So, you want to know about my symbol huh?  Ok, I'd be happy to oblige.  Back in 1988 I met Mike Bailey. (I know, we're old!)  Mike and I both shared a passion for the woods.  We decided that we needed a way to mark our turf.  We wanted something that would be unique to each individual, (we had a bunch of friends which each had their own version) but wanted to retain some continuity so people would know we were from the same group.  After several designs, we decided on this symbol for it's simplicity. We wanted something that could be carved in a tree, or scratched in a rock quickly.  The symbol below fit the bill.

The symbol above is mine.  It means I was somewhere alone.  This symbol is copyrighted now, because people have expressed interest in it, and I don't want it stolen.

The above symbol is Mike Bailey's.  It means he was somewhere alone.  This symbol is copyrighted for the same reasons as mine.

This symbol means that Mike and I were somewhere together.  There were eight different dots when we began.  Four on the inside, like ours, and four at each point of the line.  This made a very efficient way for us to mark our turf, and belongings.  It was very easy for us to tell exactly who had been to any given place, without anyone else knowing who we were.  This remains a pretty ingenious symbol, especially designed by a couple of kids.  This symbol is copyrighted too.

Have an opinion? Drop me a line.
