Mike and Mike go to Colorado!
This picture was taken in Rocky Mountain National Park. There is a dirt
road that leads you through the woods along a creek all the way to the top of
the continental divide. It was a GREAT drive!
This was the view back down the road we had traveled. It sure made for a
nice day in the mountains. The top of the road was 12,000 feet!
Here we are at the top looking back down on the large valley we traveled.
This picture was taken from the top of Pike's Peak. We ascended to the top
the day after we arrived. Instead of tearing up the Explorer on this huge
mountain, we traveled to the top on the Cog Railway. If you visit Pike's
Peak, the railway is the only way to go!
Here we are at the top of Pike's Peak. We had quite a while to walk around
before the train left for the bottom. The air was thin which made getting
around tough.
This, believe it or not, are the roots of a tree! This tree had fallen
over exposing it's intricate root system. We found this in Rocky Mountain
National Park. We hiked all over the mountians this day from around 7,000
feet all the way up to 11,500 feet! It was about 11 miles covered in the
rocky terrain that day. What a trek!
Here we are about 1/2 way through a trail that took us to a beautiful 11,500
foot lake. It was a great hike where we occasionally met wonderfully nice
people. Plenty of trail side chats took place this day.
Here's one of the lakes we visited. It's not the highest one of the day,
but it was one of the prettiest. This lake was teaming with Rainbow Trout!
